300,000 stars

Finally, some clear skies again and no moonlight pollution.  Pleased with this re-visit to M13 – a globular cluster of stars some 11 billion years old.  There are an estimated 300,000 stars packed together in this swarm. This cluster is bright enough to see as a fuzzy patch with binoculars in the ‘keystone’ of Hercules, is high overhead in the summer months.  Down and right from the bright orange star a tiny faint galaxy can also be seen.
