Comet Catalina

I couldn’t quite believe it when I went to image Comet Catalina recently.  Looking at just two 45sec exposures, the comet could be seen to have moved.  The animation below is 70 exposures taken over a 55 minute period.  The total field of vision is roughly the same as the moon.  Comet Catalina is heading out of the solar system, currently between Earth and Mars, and fading fast, and will next visit in the year 2484.  Further below is a still image, that shows some more detail of the comet structure.
