Jupiter, 7th Dec 2011

Observation of Jupiter, at x312 magnification with blue colour filter.  I was lucky enough to catch the shadow of one of the moons – Io – crossing the face of Jupiter, following the line of the South Equatorial Belt.  Not only that, but as Io’s shadow approached the centre of the planet it could just be made out to be falling over the Great Red Spot.  Both moving in a westerly to easterly direction.
